What does one useful AI result cost?
Budget the whole workflow. Adjust the example and see the cost per accepted outcome, plus the comparison with your current process.
Read the calculation correctly
Total monthly AI workflow cost = access + execution + integration + review. Cost per accepted outcome = total ÷ accepted outcomes. Include failed attempts in costs; exclude failed results from accepted outcomes. All amounts use the currency you enter.
The comparison assumes equal case difficulty and quality. Positive headroom is not a verified saving: omitted costs, demand changes and redeployed staff time can change the result. A zero-cost baseline does not support a break-even volume calculation.
Before your next software purchase
- Define an accepted result and the quality check.
- Capture the existing process on comparable tasks.
- Count retries, exceptions and reviewer time.
- Repeat the estimate with half the accepted volume.
